The Subtle Movement of the Stars is a fresh job from David Albarn featuring among the more surreal paintings you’re likely to come across in a mainstream art museum. The job comes from the artist’s studio in London and it takes inspiration from many diverse mediums. The resulting work is really magnificent and it’s already generated a lot of attention from people around the world.

The first of which was entitled The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty and it featured many creatures lying around on a beach. The sea monster was especially unsettling as it looked like it had been skinned alive and symbolized a genuinely terrifying spectacle. The sea monster afterwards came back into a very different form as a characteristic of some other painting known as the Scream. The next painting at The Movement of the Stars series was The Pineapple, that took a very different approach to the theme than The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty did.

The pineapple painting featured a starry sky above and an extremely lovely sunset, with the background of trees which were quite much like The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty. The painting did not really occur on a beach, as a lot of people believe it did, but instead it was supposed to represent the dreamlike quality to life that we have all experienced at some stage. The starry sky, seen against the darkened backdrop of trees and other natural elements was meant to function as an image that has been outside of our normal perception and which gave us the chance to reflect about the real nature of our own lives.

The starry effect in this particular work is something which comes in quite naturally with the fashion of the artist. David has worked on projects that have large amounts of starry components and The Subtle Movement of the which he appears to be especially fond of. It can therefore be seen as somewhat of a natural progression for him to maneuver to a fashion where all of the skies is visible in his paintings instead of the dark, smoky environment which was frequently depicted in the works of earlier artists. In a way, the starry vision is an extension of a fashion which has ever been close to his heart and has helped to provide him the appreciation he enjoys and helps to explain the charm that has come to make his reputation.

It’s certainly worth having a look at because there’s a whole lot to admire here. The full-length painting features a full size silhouette of the girl and the manifestation of her to the water is done in such a way as to create a sense of distance as you view the painting in the side. As the water falls gently upon her, it appears to change the direction of the water’s motion, appearing to suggest motionless. The effect is one of deep beauty and it really is one of the greater paintings of this type which you’re very likely to come across.

The work also has a number of other items, most especially one that’s twice as big as the water which forms the background for the work, as well as several smaller ones that seem to be floating on top of the water. The effect created by these little floating objects is really breathtaking. The last work of art also includes a figure in a similar style as the woman, now with fish leaping out of the water too. The colours used in this piece are soft and soothing, as are the remaining pictures within this collection, which makes them perfect for any home.
